Randi Weingarten, President of the AFT, is demanding that Pearson lift it’s "gag order" on the tests so that teachers can discuss them and parents can see them. Representatives of the AFT met with Pearson in London, and Weingarten sent a letter to explain their concerns. Twice in the letter she cites Principal Phillips NY Times Op Ed. Here is the letter

PS 321’s April 4th rally about the problems with this year’s ELA exams and the lack of transparency surround them was a huge success.   Over 500 people attended and over 30 schools have scheduled their own rallies as a direct result of ours.  Principal Liz Phillips explains her objections to the tests in this Op Ed article published in the NY Times on April 10th

We are very excited to share the news that - in solidarity - at least 25 other schools signed on to hold similar rallies Friday April 11th. News coverage of all the rallies is on our press page.

The community from PS 321 was thrilled to be joined by educators from MS 51 and PS 39. PS 29 joined together to hold their own rally and created a teacher resolution, which you can see here:  http://www.thenation.com/blog/179193/brooklyn-teachers-push-back-against-high-stakes-testing#
